There is no excuse for being bored in 2024. Take advantage of everything Mobile and Baldwin counties have to offer, and check them off as you go!


  • Eat a bag of peanuts from A&M Peanut Shop in a newly renovated Bienville Square while the squirrels watch with interest

  • Feed part of your cheeseburger to a dog at Pirates Cove

  • Say hello to the almost-tame pelicans on the end of the Fairhope Pier, and catch a sunset while you’re at it

  • Have a bushwacker with a topper at the Flora-Bama

  • Watch Mobile Ballet’s rendition of the Nutcracker come December

  • Have a cup of turtle soup at Felix’s

  • Dance in the street at Fairhope First Friday Art Walk

  • Catch a concert in the sand on Dauphin Island

  • Hit the Fairhope Lighting of the Trees for a little south Alabama “snow” and a chance to mail your letter to Santa

  • Have a Dew Drop dog with all the fixins and a side of onion rings

  • Walk the Downtown streets at LODA ArtWalk

  • Grab a cone from Mr. Gene’s Beans and window shop in downtown Fairhope

  • Stop by the Church Street Graveyard to watch the Widows of Joe Cain on Mardi Gras Sunday

  • Test your drivers at Top Golf

  • Wave at your costumed furry friends in the Mystic Mutts of Revelry parade

  • Pick up a to-go box of baklava from the Mobile Greek Fest

  • Put on your pointed hat and lots of glitter for the annual Fairhope Witches’ Ride

  • Marvel at the majestic trees on Spring Hill College’s Avenue of Oaks

  • Try your hand at throwing a mullet at the annual Flora-Bama “toss”

  • Cheer on the Jags at a football game in Hancock Whitney Stadium

  • Eat a sack of oysters straight off the boat in Bayou La Batre

  • Free the tatas and run the Causeway to support breast cancer research with Bras Across the Causeway

  • Indulge in a box of heavenly hash at the Visitation Gift Shop

  • Catch one of each: speckled trout, redfish, crab, mullet, flounder

  • Sip an alfresco cocktail by the Bay at the Grand Hotel while the kids play a round of croquet or horseshoes

  • Eat a MoonPie while standing in the street

  • Ride the ferry from Fort Morgan to Fort Gaines and back again

  • Write a thank you note to a teacher, first responder or military person

  • Create art alongside professional artists at the Mobile Museum of Art

  • Enjoy date night 434 feet in the air overlooking the city at Dauphin’s 

  • Reel in a big one during the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo

  • Watch the fireworks over the water on the Fourth of July

  • Indulge in a spa day at the Battlehouse Hotel

  • Ride the Ferris wheel at The Wharf in Gulf Shores

  • Buy a can of wine from Greer’s and drink it on the rooftop while overlooking the city 

  • Use the secret password to enter Las Floriditas through its hidden bookcase door 

  • Walk through the twinkling lights and swaying tree branches at Bellingrath’s Magic Christmas in Lights

  • Vote

  • Visit R&R for fresh crawfish, or better yet, take home some critters and host your own boil

  • Shop the monthly estate sale at Olde Mobile Antiques and then grab a charcuterie board at the Cheese Cottage

  • Chow down at the German Sausage Festival in Elberta

  • Visit the area’s magnificent historic house museums: Charlotte Conde, Oakleigh, Swift-Coles Historic Home

  • Cruise the Delta on a trip from Blakely State Park

  • Ride a Lime scooter around Downtown (but check that your insurance is up to date first)

  • Come for the art at the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival, stay for the lemonades and kettle corn

  • Watch an IMAX movie at the Exploreum Science Center

  • Stop by the Food Pak for a muffuletta

  • Dunk your beignets in buttercream sauce at Mo’ Bay Beignet or top them with a squeeze of lemon at Panini Pete’s

  • Fight for a stuffed animal in a parade but then give it to a little kid nearby

  • Run with the man in red at the annual Santa Run at Carpe Diem

  • Head to the Bluegill by boat for Sunday live music and charbroiled oysters

  • Commune with the cat at the Haunted Book Shop

  • Catch a show on the bluff with Eastern Shore Repertory Theater

  • Give someone a half-dozen sweet ‘n salty cookies from Bake My Day for absolutely no reason

  • Pick up some fresh catch in Bon Secour

  • Vote for your favorite king cake at the annual King Cake-Off

  • Listen to the Mobile Symphony Orchestra while marveling at the gilded decoration inside the Saenger Theater

  • Dress up and attend a Mardi Gras ball you’ve never been to before

  • Get a wedgie going down a slide at OWA’s indoor water park

  • Read “With the Old Breed” by Eugene Sledge again or for the first time

  • Wear some green at Callaghan’s on St. Patrick’s Day

  • Donate a book to a little lending library
